How To Reset And Recharge

Anyone else feel the need to hit reset and recharge the batteries a bit lately? I feel like I haven’t taken a moment to relax in months, and if I have rested, it’s because the baby was forcing me to! If I could get on a plane and take a nice little beach vacation right now, I would in a heartbeat. Since that’s not really an option, I will resort to other, more local ways to reset and recharge.

Lifestyle blogger Sammy Hill shares tips on how to reset and recharge.

+ Reconnect with friends & family – One of my favourite ways to recharge is to spend quality time with friends and family. Kirby and I make an effort to go for walks or meals with our family as often as possible. We also like to meet friends for drinks or host a games night. I love that when we’re with family and friends, it’s much easier to disconnect from work and every day stresses, and just enjoy time with our company.

+ Take a nature walk – Odie and I go for walks every day, but sometimes I need fewer distractions and more peace. A walk in the woods, near a creek or on the beach can help to clear your mind while getting some fresh air.

+ Sleep in – When was the last time you slept in? I honestly don’t remember. Sometimes, a good sleep is exactly what we need to let our minds rest and our batteries recharge. Don’t set an alarm, let your partner or roommate know that you plan to sleep in as long as possible, and prepare the room the night before by covering windows.

+ Take a full day off – Being a business owner, I sometimes forget that taking a day off is a normal, doable thing. My career is 24/7 and I do something for work every single day. When I’m feeling the need to reset, I think a day off would be a great way to start. For me, this would mean putting my phone and laptop away, letting clients know that I’ll be unavailable, and committing to 24 hours of no work. It sounds terrifying to someone like me, but it’s really not!

Think of this post as a gentle reminder to watch for the signals that you may need a break, and to take the time to reset and recharge. For more ideas on how to get back into a good mindset, check out my post on how to snap out of a bad mood.
