4 Things I Take More Seriously As I Age

4 Things I Take More Seriously As I Age

For the longest time, I was the girl that ate doughnuts for breakfast and only washed my face on a ‘self-care’ day. I was lucky that it didn’t really affect me at the time, but as I age, there are definitely some things that I have started to take more seriously. I am starting to prioritize my health and wellness and cut back on a few of the doughnuts!

Skincare

This is a big one! I was so bad at taking care of my skin for years. I’m sure the change has something to do with my income increasing, because skincare ain’t cheap, but I’ve really started to care for my skin in the last two years.

Washing my face every night has become a part of my routine and I have invested in products that keep my skin clean and protected. My favourites are Drunk Elephant face cleanser, moisturizer, SPF and retinol. I’ve also been visiting Smooth Effects Kelowna for a variety of treatments, including HydraFacials, dermaplaning and microneedling.

I’m on a mission to fix that sun damage and prevent those wrinkles!

Body Function

I’m sure we’ve all taken our bodies for granted at some point or another. As I age, I have found that my body needs more attention and care than ever before. I have aches and pains that just won’t go away, so I’ve been visiting a chiropractor, massage therapist and physiotherapist regularly. It also helps that my partner is a personal trainer!

I used to think that soreness was just a result of movement and that it was normal and would pass. Now that I’m 28, I know that’s not the case! When I don’t feel 100%, I book in with a health professional to get everything sorted out.

Drinking Water

Water really does cure a lot of issues! In an effort to improve my skin, the way my body feels and stay hydrated, I now drink at least two big bottles of water a day. It’s so important to me now that I write it on my to-do list every day!

Politics

I’ll be the first to admit that politics is overwhelming, and in the past, I’ve avoided anything to do with it for that reason. Now that I’m older and understand the effects of politics on my day-to-day life, it’s certainly something that I take more seriously. I recently voted for the first time in a provincial election, after carefully researching the candidates, parties and platforms. One thing that I’ve learned in this process is to take it one step at a time. Trying to learn the ins and outs of politics at all levels at once really is overwhelming, so I’m educating myself one step at a time.
