Healthy Habits That I’m Trying To Stick To

I am on a mission lately to make my healthy habits actually stick! I have goals to not just improve my physical and mental health now, but to really make a change in my lifestyle, and that starts with solidifying good habits.

From fitness and healthy eating to releasing some of the pressure I put on myself and continuously learning, there are definitely some healthy habits that would help me to create this all-around healthy lifestyle and be a better and happier me.

Here are a few of the habits that I’m trying to make stick!

Healthy Habits That I'm Trying To Stick To

Moving my body everyday

I have been sticking to this habit really well lately! Ever since I started using the SWEAT app I’ve been super on top of my workouts and moving my body daily. I do three resistance workouts, four LISS sessions and one rehabilitation workout per week, plus we walk or hike Odie every day. It feels good to move and I can see great results in my body!

Hydrate throughout the day

I’m so bad at this one, but I’m working on it! I get so distracted throughout the day and forget to pour myself a glass of water and rehydrate my body. No more excuses – I’m buying myself a time-stamped water bottle and committing to taking care of myself and getting in a reasonable daily water intake.

Not hitting the snooze button

I set a few alarms for myself in the morning, all before 6 am. I’m trying to get myself down to just one alarm and get my ass up and out of bed within 20 minutes of waking up. Big goals, but I think that having one alarm will improve my sleeps and allow me to feel more alive and awake first thing in the morning.

Healthy Habits That I'm Trying To Stick To

Reach for fruits and veggies as snacks

I eat fairly healthy meals, but I fall down often when it comes to snacks. I love salty treats like chips and crackers, but I want to make it a habit to reach for fruits and veggies as snacks instead, as much as possible. I love cherry tomatoes, apricots, blueberries and cucumber and plan to make sure these snacks are easily accessible at all times!

Consciously let go of things that stress me out

Easier said than done, but I really want to make a habit of letting go of things that stress me out. One of my best friend’s is really good at this, and I need a lesson from her. I can easily get caught up in the stress of pleasing others, saying yes to do much and asking too much of myself, and I want to regularly check myself and let go of the internal things that are bringing me down.

Take time to read and expand my knowledge

Kirby bought me a Kindle a few weeks ago and I am loving it! I would like to include reading into my daily routine, and not just when I have a few spare minutes. Making this a habit will help me to relax and gain some new knowledge in the process. Check out what I’m reading this summer here.
