With just a few weeks until Blob makes his/her grand entrance, we’ve mostly finished the nursery! I imagine that there will be a few things that we need to add to the room over the next few months, but we’re close enough that I thought I would finally share a nursery reveal.
I’ve had so many people say that they can’t believe we aren’t finding out the gender until birth. How could we possibly decorate a nursery not knowing if it’s a boy or girl? Well, no matter the outcome, I am just not someone who would go all out with a theme or colours anyway. I love my neutrals through and through, and I’m sure that one day Blob will have a preference, but I think our simple, neutral nursery will do the trick until then.
The first order of business in the nursery was to create a feature wall for the crib to go on. We kept it nice and simple by painting the room the same white as the rest of our house, and then we added a few pieces of white trim on one wall in different directions to add some dimension. It’s the perfect backdrop for baby’s Da Vinci Colby crib.
We put in a new closet system to hold the teeny tiniest of clothes and painted the existing closet doors white. Right now, I don’t even know what to put in the closet, but I’m sure that will change very soon. So far, we just have the big kid stroller seat and baby bouncer in there, and some extra diapers.
Opposite the crib, we wanted to have good storage that would double as a changing table, as the room isn’t very big. We got the HEMNES dresser from IKEA and I love how much surface space it has. It holds all of Blob’s books, clothes, random items like pacifiers, washcloths and a thermometer. We also have a stash of diapers in there as well. On top, we grabbed this changing pad and I picked up a cute little caddy from HomeSense for diapers, wipes, creams and lotions.
The rug is also a HomeSense find and the chair was a whopping $5 at Value Village – lol. I just covered it with a nice throw blanket until I find the right fabric to recover it with.
Lastly, my favourite part of the room is the wall of treasures. I knew that I wanted to add some colour to the space by featuring these awesome Disney Collector Box Sets that my uncle bought when my sister and I were little. Kirby and I both love Disney, and we know that Blob will too, so they make the perfect decor for the nursery. I also added a mirror from HomeSense, the cutest rainbow from Tassel & Fringe (it’s called ‘The Sammy’!), a Kelowna map from Bode Goods and a couple of photos of our family (by Hope Renee Photo) to add a personal touch.
I’ve linked everything that I could from the nursery reveal below in case you’re looking for something specific! I also shared more of the clothing items, bassinet, stroller and other items we’ve bought for baby here.
I hope that Blob loves this nursery as much as I do!
