Out of Office: Managing A Growing Business

Out of Office: Managing A Growing Business

Another month working out of office under my belt and I am feeling more optimistic than ever before. You’ll read more about this below in my wins of the month, but this month has been my highest earning to date. It feels so good to see the results of hard work and to see that this business really can support me and my family.

That said, managing a growing business is not easy. This month, I did my first quarterly planning session and mapped out collaborations, launches, key events and blog posts up to 2021. It wasn’t until I put it all in a calendar that I realized how much work I had signed up for! Until this point, I’ve been fairly reactive with my work, but I’m making a real effort to plan ahead a bit more.

I also feel like I was not prepared for how many brands would be interested in working with me. Hi imposter syndrome! I started pitching collaborations with brands back in August, expecting to receive a few “we’ll keep you in mind” responses, or no responses at all. I should have had a bit more faith in myself! I am so grateful and excited for the positive responses I’ve received from brands that I really love. These collaborations have been so fun and given me more confidence in my career.

Landing these collaborations has been wonderful, but I definitely bit off more than I could chew this month! I was so excited to be working with these brands, I think that I added a few too many to my plate at a time. Everything went over well, but I certainly felt a bit of burnout. Now, I’m focusing on planning my collaborations out early and getting organized before jumping in. I think that this will be good for my mental health and more beneficial to the brands.

Managing a growing business is not easy, but it’s so worth it. I’m starting to see a more clear picture of what this business will look like in the next few years, and it’s exciting!
