You guys, the imposter syndrome is slowly starting to wear off.
Since I started blogging back in August 2019, I’ve felt like I’ve been working towards “becoming” a blogger. It’s such a strange career path. When you’re working towards becoming a doctor or an accountant, you’re a student. Then you graduate and you’re a doctor or an accountant. If you work in a retail store, you’re a retail associate from the day you start.
For some reason, I’ve felt like I wouldn’t be a “blogger” until I had a large social community, tens of thousands of pageviews a month on my blog and brands deals left and right. But like, I’m writing blog posts every other day, so shouldn’t that classify me as a blogger? Yet, when people ask me what I do, I say that I offer creative services and I have a blog – not, “I am a blogger” or “I am a content creator”.
It is 100% a lack of confidence that has made me feel this way, but over the last month, I’ve noticed that I’m growing into this role and finding more confidence in my career as a lifestyle blogger.
I’m starting to feel like I have some influence, like people are interested in what I have to say, my recommendations and genuine thoughts and opinions. I’m taking risks, putting myself out there and doing my best to manifest brand deals, affiliate sales and connection with the community that I am growing. I am a blogger and a content creator, and I’m only going to become more successful in this space.
I must also say that seeing results has contributed to my growing confidence. In April, I more than doubled my revenue with LIKEtoKNOW.it versus the previous month. Seeing tangible results like this is such a great feeling and proves to me that if I work hard enough for it, this will be a career that I can both enjoy and make a living from.
