Wow, a lot has happened in the last decade, and especially in the last three years for me. When this decade began, I was 17 years old. I had big goals and plans, and I was in a hurry to do it all.
You’ll notice that a lot happened in the last three years, and I am sure that the next three to five years will also be full of changes, but I am so looking forward to them. Stay tuned for my 2020 goals on the blog tomorrow (January 1st, 2020)!
This post was inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, Sivan. You can read her post here.
Read on as I share my recap of the last decade!
2010
- Graduated from high school.
- My Grampa passed away and my family celebrated his life ??
- Went to Vegas and Disneyland to celebrate my graduation.
- Started my degree program at Okanagan College.
2011
- My family moved back to Kelowna from Vernon. I had been commuting to Kelowna for about three and a half years, or staying at my grandparents’ house.
- Started working at lululemon.
2012
- Back to Vegas and Disneyland to celebrate Kelsey’s graduation!
- Met one of my best friends, Erika, on a party bus – so random.
- Went blonde for the first and last time.
2013
- Bought my first brand new vehicle, a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I still drive it today!
- One of my best friends, Carly, gave birth to the sweetest little boy, Greysen. I taught him how to crawl!
2014
- Graduated from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing.
- Went to Seattle to see Jay Z and Beyonce and stayed on a yacht with some girlfriends.
- Moved to Edmonton on a whim and rented my first apartment. It was disgusting, the fire alarm went off once a week and I had to leave for two days so they could spray for bed bugs… but I lived on the same floor as my friend, Tayana!
2015
- Started working for the Edmonton Oilers and Oil Kings. Met my roommate and one of my best friends, Cindy.
- Cindy and I moved into a brand new townhouse in West Edmonton, and my childhood best friend Brielle’s boyfriend moved in with us as well.
- Went to Disney World for the first time!
- Met so many amazing people in Edmonton and had a blast working for the Oilers, but decided to move back to Kelowna to be with my family and enjoy the Okanagan summers.
- Started working for KelownaNow and Csek Creative.
2016
- Worked hard at my new job and received a promotion.
- Interviewed Wade Redden on camera and almost called him Rade Wedden due to nerves ?????
- Celebrated Canada Day with my best friends, who are rarely all in Kelowna at the same time!
- Had one of my photos shared on the Edmonton Oilers Instagram.
- Said goodbye to my sweet boy, Tucker.
- Dyed my hair deep purple – it was awesome.
2017
- Celebrated New Years at Disneyland! That was the coolest New Years experience I’ve ever had.
- ADOPTED ODIE. Best day ever.
- Worked with an amazing team at KelownaNow and Csek Creative. We did so many fun things and wrote tons of amazing content.
- Bought my first house. This one was a huge goal to check off the list. Odie and I moved into our fixer upper and began making it our home.
- Cindy and I went to Arizona and visited my friend Carly and her adorable family.
2018
- I left my job and started a new role as a Marketing Manager at Black Press Okanagan. I worked with 11 different publications and influenced some big changes in the company.
- Finished renovating my basement into a suite and welcomed my first tenants.
- Cried tears of joy watching Odie take massive steps in his training with Dogzies Pet Services.
- Started playing soccer again with a co-ed indoor team, and then became best friends with the team and played board games with them every weekend.
- Met Kirby, repeatedly told him we were just friends and then fell for him ??
2019
- I won’t dive into this one again, as you can read all about it in my Year in Review, but this was the busiest, most crazy and amazing year of my life. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all wonderful, as I lost a friend, my auntie and my dog of over 15 years, Koda, but I’m grateful for the time that I was able to spend with them.
This next decade is going to be a wild one. In 2030, I will be turning 38 years old ?. I’m so not ready for that, so here’s to taking things slow in the next 10 years and enjoying every moment.
