Home Trends I’m Loving Right Now

Home renovations have my mind constantly thinking about design and home trends. If I’m not working or like actively doing work on the house, I’m thinking about home decor accents, paint colours and where I can move one rug so that I can buy another one.

It’s safe to say I’m obsessed with these home trends lately!

Earthy Tones

I’ve always liked stark contrasts, but lately I’ve been gravitating towards earthy tones, like nudes, browns and greens in my home decor. Our new kitchen cabinets will be a really pretty grey/green colour (similar to the below photo) and we’re adding in some rustic brown shelving and stacks of cream and nude dinnerware. My entire house is still Behr’s Bakery Box White, but I’m adding in earthy toned accents to warm it up a little.

Textured Accents

If I could go all out with the renovation we’re currently doing to our kitchen/living space, I would 100% be doing some textured walls. I love the look of a plaster walls, especially in a light and airy living room. Since my budget is already screaming at me over this reno, I will have to pass on the plaster walls, but I will add some texture to the space with pillows and a jute rug.

Branches and Trees

I’ve never been one to have flowers in my home, but I do love some greenery. Normally, I look for very full plants to style in my home, but I’m also not great at taking care of them. Lately, I’ve been vibing with the trend of branches and slim trees, like Olive trees, in my home. I love the look of a nice Eucalyptus branch in a vase.

Industrial Lighting

Just walk down the lighting aisle at Home Depot and it’s easy to see this trend in full force. Exposed, industrial style lighting fixtures are everywhere lately, and I’m digging it. We just bought this fixture for our kitchen and we liked this style of this one too.

Matte Black Finishes

Slowly I’ve added matte black finishes to nearly every room in my home. It is so sleek and stylish. We have matte black faucets and towel bars in the bathroom, a matte black handle on our patio door and our new kitchen faucet is also matte black. They instantly make a space feel more modern.
