The weather is starting to warm up, the snow is melting and the beautiful winter to spring slush is everywhere. I feel like dressing for the winter to spring transition is so tough because you’re so excited for warmer days and sunshine, you just want to start ditching layers. Then you step outside into a puddle of slush and mud.
There are some stylish ways to dress for the winter to spring transition that take the weather into account as well.
Layer winter staples with springy florals
An easy way to start transitioning your wardrobe is to layer spring styles, like floral dresses, under your winter staples. A good leather jacket or wool coat can bring the warmth over a flowy maxi dress in a fun spring colour or floral print. Another option is to pair a cute midi skirt with a chunky knit sweater.
Invest in cute rain boots
For years I have had one pair of rain boots from Walmart that were like $5 and pink leopard print – lol. I do think it’s a good idea to invest in stylish rain boots that protect your feet from the muddy ground. As much as I’d like to wear my favourite booties or sandals come spring, realistically, I’ll need some protection from the elements until everything dries up a bit.
Opt for knit pastels
On days that you are longing for spring, but the weather is still a tad on the chilly side, I would layer up in cozy knits in pretty spring pastels. I love sage green and lavender, especially in loungewear sets lately! These colours can bringing a springy vibe to your outfit while you keep warm.
Dressing for the winter to spring transition can be tough, but there are ways to switch up your wardrobe and prepare for the warmer, sunnier days. The countdown is on to fewer layers and opened toe shoes!
